Greenwood determined to repay bosses faith

COMEBACK kid Dan Greenwood is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Dudley Heathen bosses this season.

Greenwood is one of only two riders remaining at the club for 2013 and he’s desperate to grab the opportunity with both hands.

Making a return to the sport last season after three years out, Greenwood’s established himself in the main body of the side and now aims to knock on the door of a heat leader role along with Paul Starke, who is also in contention on a similar average.

Greenwood said: “It was obviously a tough decision for the management when it came to team building this year, but I’m glad they chose me.

“I’m sure I can improve on last year’s average. Whether I start as a heat leader or second string, I want to be a heat leader by the end of the year.

“I’ve not had any regrets about coming back to the sport after three years out, in fact I’ve come back with a lot more passion for the sport.

“Maybe the only regret is that a few people I have been racing against before have a three year advantage over me and I just want to make that back as quickly as I can.”

The Heathens side has been completed for the new campaign with Greenwood joined by Ashley Morris, Lewis Blackbird, Paul Starke, Gareth Isherwood, Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves.

Tickets are selling fast for the season launch party at Cradley Heath Liberal Club on Friday, March 1.

All the Heathens squad will be presented with their race jackets on stage and they’ll be plenty of photographic opportunities for supporters.

Fans can obtain tickets from the online club shop at dudleyheathens.co or by calling HSSC on 07766 745681.
