BRIERLEY Hill Sports Bar A extended their lead in the Stourbridge Snooker League Premier Division with a 4-1 win at Pockets SC A.
With closest rivals Norton Social A not playing, Brierley Hill now lead by nine points after victories for Jon Bate, Russ Edwards, Luke Garland and Callum Downing cancelled out Andy Smith’s early win for Pockets.
West Midlands Police were beaten 3-2 at Amblecote Institute A, a result which saw them relinquish third place to Kinver Constitutional A, who hammered Brierley Hill’s C team 5-0.
Wins for Chris Price, Paul Vyze and Jason Jenns helped Snooks SC B slip past Stourbridge Institute A 3-2, while Pockets SC B defeated Brierley Hill B by the same scoreline.
First Division: Joint leaders Netherton Sports and Social and Kingswinford RBL A both fell to 3-2 defeats.
Netherton slipped up at home to Kingswinford SC, who ended a run of five straight defeats, while the Legion lost for just the second time in 14 matches at Kinver Constitutional C for whom Steve Jones won a dramatic decider.
The defeats allowed Amblecote RBL to close within seven points of the top pair thanks to a 3-2 win against Kinver’s B team.
In the most surprising result of the week, a winning debut for Cary Homer helped Amblecote Institute B stun Brierley Hill D 5-0 and jump from ninth place to fourth in the process.
Wombourne continued their fine form with a 4-1 win at Norton Social B, while Dibdale remain winless having lost an agonising decider after fighting back from 2-0 down at Stourbridge Institute B.
Second Division: Baggeridge Social rocketed back into top spot thanks to a 5-0 win over Kingswinford RBL B.
With previous leaders Kinver Constitutional D only managing a 3-2 at Kingswinford Cons B, Baggeridge now lead by a single point.
Stourbridge Institute C maintained the pressure on the top two by beating Amblecote Institute D 3-2. Nick Aston, Harry Jones, on a re-spotted black and Simon Tyler were their winners in a tight match.
Amblecote’s other two teams clashed with the C team coming out on top 3-2 against the E team.
