SAM Eggington blew away Vaclav Skromach to clinch the first stoppage win of his professional career.

The 19-year-old Stourbridge fighter was on top of Newark-based Skromach from the opening bell at Birmigham’s HMV Institute this afternoon.

Eggington caught his opponent flush with a powerful right hand just seconds into the contest and more telling shots followed in the first three minutes.

Skromach, who hails from the Czech Republic, found himself continually pushed back onto the ropes as Eggington took control.

He survived the opening round but was left in terrible trouble early in the second as a rampant Eggington connected with a right-left combination.

A further combination, following a long spell of pressure, finally put Skromach on the canvas and he failed to beat the count.

For Eggington, who stepped up from welterweight to light-middleweight for the fight, it was the perfect comeback after suffering his maiden defeat in last month’s Prizefighter.

The former Warley amateur has now won four of his five professional contests.
