JAMES Willis took 4-71 then made a vital 58 to inspire leaders Enville to a nervy two-wicket victory at Coombs Wood.

The Worcestershire League Division Two strugglers gave a good account of themselves with the bat posting 265-7 in their 50 overs.

Dan Birch (61) and Matthew Colwell (69) set a solid foundation which was added to by Samuel Perruzza (20) and Mike Langford (44), while Adam Tranter, Thomas Bingham and Leigh Passmore all took a wicket apiece.

It seemed, though, to be a score well within their compass as Abdul Salom (60) and Greg Tomkins (46) made a useful start. But Langford (5-66) wrenched out the top four leaving it to Andy Webster (43) and Willis got them within sight before a vital 16 from Passmore steered them home with 10 balls remaining.

Netherton collected a winning draw on their trip to Stourport.

The visitors made 201-8 in 50 overs with Paul Harris (39) and Troy Lee (42) the main contributors. Simon Oseland made 28, while there were useful late order runs from Mark Buttery (20), Conor Warby (16) and Dominic Priest (17). Matthew Delo took 5-56.

Stourport’s reply flattered to deceive with Christian Parry (29), Andrew Siwicki (26) and Craig Siwicki (35) all getting starts but Jack Green kept them in check with excellent figures of 6-46. But they could not remove the host’s last pair and they closed on 178-9.

In Division Three, Lye continued their impressive start to the campaign with a six-wicket win at home to Himley.

Adam Meacham (5-40) and Mohammed Ishtiaq (3-21) ensured the visitors never got going with Charlie Mackelworth unbeaten on 50 as they were dismissed for 154 in 48 overs. Matthew Bowen made 27 and Jordan Webb hit 21 down the order to give the score some respectability.

But it was never likely to be enough and so it proved as T Hussain’s unbeaten 85 pushed Lye to 156-4.

Stourbridge Social bowled Ross-on-Wye out for 111 but Nelson proved unlucky for Social as they were shot out for only 64.

Oliver Stevens must have thought his 6-33 had put Social in the box seat despite 36 from Adam McLarty .

The visitors though had no answer to Harry Porter (5-27), Christiaan Ferreira (3-25) and James Tiffen (2-4) with only skipper Richard Milner (18 not out) and opener Gareth Jones (13) reaching double figures.
