Sports hoping to keep hold of duo

DUDLEY Sports will be hoping they can hang onto Tividale duo Dan Evans and Mark Wardell a little bit longer after they appeared for them in their friendly against Burntwood Town.
In total, Sports used 23 players when beating Midland Combination side Burntwood 2-0, Evans netting one of the goals while Tom Ramm was also on target.
Sports joint-boss Tony Gore said: “I’m hoping we’ll have the Tividale players for a few more games. “We’re still a work in progress at the moment. “I still had a few players missing for the Burntwood game and at some point I’ve got to whittle the squad down, ideally to 18 or 20 players.”
n Dudley Town warmed up for their assault on this season’s West Midlands League title with a 4-0 win over Kidderminster Premier League side Dudley Wood Athletic, who stepped in at the last minute to replace original opponents Causeway United.
That was followed by a 3-0 success over Midland Combination side Enville Athletic where goals from Grant Joshua, Tom Gadd and Ashley Greenaway sealed victory.
However, the Robins received a setback when Brett McGilligan broke his foot and will miss the first six weeks of the season.
Dudley Town commence their West Midland League campaign this Saturday when they entertain Shawbury United at the Dell Stadium.
