COOMBS Wood clinched a clinical 53 runs success over Feckenham to climb out of the Worcestershire League Division Two drop zone.
After being inserted to bat, Coombs Wood piled on the runs, opener Rad Ganesh lead the way with 85 while Dan Birch (31), Matt Colwell (45) and Sam Perruzza (28) all helped to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
From a position of 151-2, Coombs Wood were finally removed for a healthy 253.
Feckenham struggled in reply and were reduced to 118 for six when Jamie Reddish threatened to turn matters around with a spectacular innings of 89.
He finally fell victim to Alex Chappell who claimed three for 40 as Feckenham fell well short on 200.
Coombs Wood skipper Mike Langford said: “Our top three really hit out and put on 100 in the first 11 overs”.
The result takes Coombs Wood 20 points clear of next-to-bottom side Stourport.
Langford added: “We’re looking up — not down at the moment.”
Coombs Wood have a local derby on their hands this Saturday when they entertain Netherton Meanwhile, Romsley and hunnington were rolled over by six wickets when they faced Division Three leaders Lye.
Only Arshad Khan made any impression with the bat when scoring 53 in a total of 105 all out.
Lye made light work of their target, reaching 109 for four in just 23.1 overs.
The result leaves Romsley just one place above the relegation zone which they will look to improve upon when they visit Birlingham on Saturday.
