Hill still looking to strengthen his Yetz squad

HALESOWEN Town boss John Hill is still looking to improve his squad despite their strong showing against local rivals Stourbridge this week.
Although the Yeltz went down 1-0, the scoreline didn’t reflect the true story as Halesowen looked the much better side.
Hill said: “You never get to put out the side you want to in pre-season. “There’s always someone who needs to get more time on the pitch, or somebody else is missing.
“It was a real good friendly for the supporters, but I expect a much more difficult game when we play Leamington this Saturday — but that’s what I want, to pit ourselves against stronger opposition”.
Reigning Southern League champions Leamington are expected to bring a sizeable following and also herald the return of former Yeltz boss Paul Holleran.
Hill added: “I’m happy with the squad, but I’m always interested if the right person becomes available. “This is the time when club’s start trimming and releasing players, so we’ll see whose available. I’d quite happily sign someone on Friday night prior to the start of the season if I thought they could improve the side.”
Hill also praised his frontrunners Ben Haseley and Kyle Brady against Stourbridge even though neither of them could hit the target.
He said: “Those two will cause defenders loads of trouble this season because they’re non-stop and they will always have chances.
“On another day, Ben Haseley could have walked off with a hat-trick against Stourbridge.
“We have a chap that keeps stats for us and he counted 11 clear chances for us and only three to Stourbridge.
“I was also delighted with the size of the crowd especially when you consider it was the start of the Midland Alliance season.
“Hopefully we can get a similar sized crowd against Leamington”.
Saturday is the last chance for supporters to purchase a season ticket.
