Wright rues awful Himley show
11:04am Thursday 12th September 2013 in Sport
GREG Wright admitted his Himley side slipped into end of season mode following their 68 run reverse at Barnt Green.
The result put paid to their prospects of finishing runners-up in this season’s Birmingham League Premier Division and Wright revealed: “We didn’t play as well as we could, in fact we were pretty awful. “Barnt Green is a place where we haven’t done well in recent years and we didn’t deserve to get anything there this time”.
For once Himley strike bowlers Danny Smith and Jamie Turner flattered to deceive and it was left to off spinner Ryan Brown to bag the best figures of three for 34 while Stuart Wedge, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Nathan Round all claimed a couple of wickets.
They all helped restrict Bart Green to 188 all out with three balls to spare.
Himley never got going with the bat in reply and were removed for a modest 120 in 38.2 overs as Alistair Pollock picked up four for 16 off nine overs.
Himley bring down the curtain with a home clash against Herefordshire-based runners-up Brockhampton.
