Tivvy taste first defeat with cup exit

TIVIDALE finally fell at the 10th hurdle after crashing out of the FA Cup this week with a 2-1 defeat at Coventry Sphinx.
Following a sequence of nine wins, the Packwood Road side found this game a step too far.
Two first-half goals from Jerome Murdoch sealed Tivvy’s fate and despite a second half reply from Matt Waite, the earlier damage couldn’t be repaired.
Assistant boss Ian Long said: “We’ve not been used to going behind in games and I think it rocked us a bit.
“We were still reeling from that when they scored a second.
“I thought we were the better side in the second half and we should have equalised late in the game when Mike Wardell missed a great chance”
Tividale were missing their midfield partnership of Sam Williams and Chris Field through injury while striker Brett Clarke was also absent.
n Black Country Rangers hope to have prolific West Midlands League marksman Sam Agar on board by the time they play Wolverhampton Sporting Community on Saturday.
Agar, who made his name at Stafford Town, had recently joined Dudley Town but has now opted to join Rangers.
