Call for Heathens fans to come and celebrate
12:00pm Thursday 17th October 2013 in Sport
HEATHENS bosses are urging fans of the old Cradley side to come along and join in their title celebrations.
Dudley won the National League title for the first time last week and the team will display the trophy at their Knockout Cup Final at Wolverhampton on Tuesday, October 29.
And the club are hoping fans who went to the old Dudley Wood on a regular basis but haven’t been to a Heathens meeting will come along and show their support for the brilliant achievement.
Chairman Nigel Pearson said: “I’m well aware there are Cradley fans who haven’t been to a Heathens meeting since we reformed in 2010 for various reasons.
“There are some who won’t because it’s not Cradley — but I would say this is the next best thing.
“And there are some who refuse to come along because our home track is Wolverhampton, the home of the old enemy. “I’d like to think these issues can be put to one side for one night to join with our brilliant fans who have backed us week in and week out.
“What these lads have achieved has been nothing short of brilliant — and they deserve all the praise going their way.
“For us to be crowned National League champions in addition to the Fours, Pairs and Shield is amazing — and the lads are going for the Knockout Cup to try and complete the clean sweep.
“Admission to our meetings is great value and I would urge all Cradley fans to come and give this team of young lads a massive reception. They are carrying the Heathens colours on their chest and they have done so with pride all season.”
Heathens will know their opponents for the Knockout Cup Final this week with the Isle of Wight and Mildenhall going to a semi-final replay.
Admission for the October 29 event has been pegged at £11 adults, £8 concessions and £2 children — a special cup final programme will be on sale for £3.
