HANNAH Payton is preparing to compete in the race of her life this Saturday when she represents Great Britain at the World Cyclo-Cross Championships in Holland.

The Kingswinford cyclist travels to Hoogerheide as part of a four strong British side looking to make their mark in the ladies race.

It’s a dream come true for Hannah and her father and coach Kevin Payton claimed: “It doesn’t get any better than this.

“Hannah has represented Great Britain in the World Cup Series this season, but Saturday’s race is a level above”.

Hannah’s selection has come as reward for winning the National Trophy Series and Kevin Payton added: “Whatever happens in Holland, it’s been a fantastic season for Hannah. Just being selected for the Worlds is brilliant and hopefully she’ll have plenty of support from Stourbridge Cycling Club on the day “We had a bit of a disaster in the National Championship[s when Hannah finished 12th, we’re just hoping that race is behind us now”.

Brother Tom Payton brought down his cyclo-cross season in winning style at Chetwynd Barracks in Nottingham.

He was amongst a group of six riders who broke clear on the opening lap, but that was soon whittled down to two, Payton doing battle with Andrew Stuart of Nottingham Clarion.

Payton then punctured and had to ride half a lap with a flat tyre before changing bikes, losing 20 seconds on Stuart.

By the end of the fourth lap, Payton had recovered and pulled clear to win by an impressive 40 second margin.
