STOURBRIDGE Lions will take on promotion chasing local rivals Kidderminster at Stourton Park this weekend.

The first game between the two sides looked like it was heading for a draw until a last minute Kidderminster try gave them a dramatic victory, something the Lions haven't forgotten and will be looking to avenge this week, especially as that result was the catalyst that sparked the Kidderminster Midlands 2 West (South) promotion push .

The Lions have had a solid first season in the higher league after last seasons promotion, currently sitting in eighth position with a healthy ten victories so far from their twenty games.

Their latest scalp came two weeks ago against Spartans, who came into the game with the goal of reaching the top two in the league. However this aim was quickly thwarted as the Lions powered to a five try 30-19 victory, with four of the tries coming from their dominant forwards.

This young Lions squad have also managed to reach their third final in as many years. A recent semi-final victory over Ledbury secured their place in the North Midlands Vase final, where they will face old foes Bridgnorth at Dudley Kingswinford's Heathbrook ground on May 11.
