HIMLEY need to improve their bowling if they are to make strides this season, says captain Greg Wright.

Wright has highlighted this side's bowling attack and fielding as areas for improvement after a frustrating start to their Birmingham Premier League season.

Himley lost by 70 runs last weekend after travelling to take on Kenilworth Wardens.

The home side set 241 after being put into bat by Himley. Kenilworth's Scott Stenning top scored with the bat by hitting 94.

Despite a valiant effort to reach the target Himley only managed 171 as opener Wright knocked 56.

However, it was the bowling attack, which also gave Kenilworth 34 extras, that disappointed the skipper.

He said: "We contributed to our own downfall. We won't win again this season if we carry on bowling the way we have been.

"We have spoken about it and are fully aware that we need to improve. The same can be said for our fielding at times.

"I thought we batted valiantly and hit what I thought was par, but the total proved too much.

"Now is the time for individuals to take responsibility."

Himley will now look to get back on track when they take on Shrewsbury at home on Saturday.

They will have a few players returning to the side but will be without the injured Mike Jones. He could be out for around two months after suffering a broken finger.
