PEOPLE can try rowing for free at an event at Dudley Water Sports Centre next weekend.

Dudley Council has teamed up with British Rowing and Dudley’s Clinical Commissioning Group to run a programme of free rowing activities at the centre located in Netherton.

Taking place on Sunday, June 1 from 10am to 2pm, the event will offer adults and children aged 12 and over the chance to try rowing sessions under the guidance of a fully qualified instructor with all the necessary equipment provided.

Information and demonstrations on other water sports available at the centre including diving, jet skiing and sailing will be available throughout.

For those who don’t want to delve onto the waters there will be a number of stalls, the chance to try indoor rowing and free zumba classes from noon.

There will also be a guided walk, starting at 11am from the centre, to take participants around the reservoir as well as the beautiful woodland and historic site of neighbouring Saltwells Nature Reserve.

Valerie Little, director of public health in Dudley, said: “We want to help everyone in Dudley borough to get more active and that’s why we’ve set up a comprehensive guide on our website www.lets-get.com”

“A lot of people walk or drive past the reservoir but they don’t realise the fantastic fun activities that are on offer there."
