MANY athletes from Halesowen Athletics Club returned with a major haul of medals from the Worcestershire County Championships.

A host of members were also crowned as county champions at the event at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre, Worcester, on Saturday, May 24.

Halesowen started well with a gold and silver in the under 13 girls 100m. Iris Oliarnyk took the line in 13.6 with Lauren Whensley taking the silver in 14.2.

It was the same story for the u13 boys 100m. Harvey Warmington-Christmas took gold in 13.2 and Isaac Gould took the silver in 14.1.

The u15 girls 100m final saw Halesowen take gold, silver and bronze thanks to Josie Oliarnyk (12.5), Molly Jenks (12.9) and Lauryn Elliott (13.6). Charles Hilliard took the gold for the club in the u15 boys 100m race in 11.2.

It was more gold and silver medals in the u17 women’s 100m final. Alex Beardmore ran 12.5 and Holly Tildesley 13.1 and it was a silver for Daniel Hughes in the u20 men’s 100m in 11.7.

The 200m races brought another flurry of county champions through their gold medals. Iris Oliarnyk won the u13 girls race in 28.0 with team mate Niamh Middleton taking bronze in 30.1. In the u15 race Iris’ sister, Josie, took the gold in 26.0 followed in by her teammates, who also medalled, Molly Jenks (28.3) and Lauryn Elliot (29.1).

Another hat-trick of medals came in the u13 boys race with Harvey Warmington-Christmas finishing in 28.1, Isaac Gould 29.1 and Ben White 29.5. In the u17 girls race Alex Beardmore took the gold 25.6 and Alex Bartlett the silver in 27.5. There was a second gold for Charles Hilliard in the u15 race (22.6) and a bronze for James Andrews (24.6)

The hurdles brought medals for Katrina Simpson (silver 20.9 u15 75mH) and Oliver Dodd (gold 16.0 u20 110mH).

The 800m saw Katrina Simpson win her gold in the u15 competition in 2.25.1. The u15 boys 800m provided another gold – this time for Tom Bailey who ran the same time as the silver placed Halesowen athlete Sam Chance of 2.20.

The 3k provided a win for Sam Lloyd-Perks in the u20 race in 9.52.8 with Jack Holman taking second in the u17 event in 9.35.3. John Hill took the veterans silver in 11.38.2 and Lily Higgins finished 1st in the u15 race in 11.35.8. Martha Payne took the u20 title in 11.37.4.

The 1500m race saw Josh Timmins take silver in the u17 men’s race (4.25.5) with Keiran Walker taking bronze in 5.03.2. In the u15 girls Abigail Saker took the gold in 4.57.5 with Livvy Worth taking silver in 5.05.1.

The 300m brought a silver for Alex Bartlett in the u17 race with a time of 44.5 and the 400m another silver but this time for James Hoult who ran 54.9 in the u20 race.
