OLD Hill claimed a vital victory over Bromsgrove in Division One of the Birmingham and Premier League last Saturday.

Visitors Bromsgrove won the toss and had no hesitation to bat on what looked to be a good wicket.

After the first few overs the pitch played slower than expected and scoring runs became difficult for the away side.

Losing clusters of wickets proved costly as they went from 21-0 to 33-3. Ash Newdick (21) was the only batsman to offer something before being trapped lbw by Jehanzaib Baig.

Top scoring batsman Tom Underhill adapted and built a well deserved 48 before being run out by Dannyjo Cox. Only Tom Green (11) was the only other Bromsgrove batsman to get double figures as Bromsgrove collapsed to 127 all out.

Nigel Davenport the pick of the bowlers 3-40 and he was well supported by Dmitri Ratnayake with 2-33.

In reply, Old Hill got off to a positive start until Mark Evenson removed captain Danny Cox lbw for 27.

Bromsgrove kept the pressure on with spin from both ends. Ganderton (3-14) and Evenson (3-11) opened the door. Only Nitesh Patal (27) provided any real threat to help Old Hill reach their target to claim a win by two wickets.

They will now take on Wolverhampton this Saturday.
