A HOST of Dudley Kingswinford runners took on the Blakedown Bolt 10k race last Friday.

The event starts from the village of Blakedown and moves through the Worcestershire countryside.

Simon Hughes was first back for DK in 30th place in 46.23. Mark Homer finished in 48.23 for 52nd place, Daren Thompson was 63rd in 49.59 and John Andrews finished in 51.05 for 73rd place.

The first woman back for the club was Helen Davies claiming 141st overall in 58.30.

Elsewhere, other club members took on a number of half marathons. The toughest was certainly the Trail Marathon Wales, a unique race through the Coed y Brenin forest in the Snowdonia National Park taking in trail single tracks, forest roads and paths.

As expected, the route was tough with hills and steep descents. That didn’t stop Rob Kennard claiming the second M50 prize in 1.48.58 taking 24th. Roger Beddard claimed seventh M60 in 2.19.35 in 128th place.

Closer to home, despite the temperatures soaring, Kevin Duckworth claimed seventh place in 1.22.55 in the Malvern Half Marathon. Also, on her return to racing following a break after her London Marathon exploits, Lorna Hulme finished in 237th in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in 1.45.31.
