Pottinger excited by double-header for in-form Heathens

CRADLEY Heathens are buzzing ahead of next Tuesday’s double-header at Monmore, according to boss Will Pottinger.

The Heathens are on target to finish top of the National League table for a staggering fourth time in five seasons after a brilliant win at Mildenhall on Sunday with a patched up side.

They were without Steve Worrall and Paul Starke, who were both on Premier League duty, and reserve Danny Phillips after he suffered shoulder and hip injuries riding at Workington the previous night.

However, a stunning display by 16-year-old reserve Nathan Greaves inspired the team to victory at their bitter rivals.

Pottinger says with Starke and Worrall back for both meetings next Tuesday – against King’s Lynn at 7.15 followed immediately by the return clash with Mildenhall – the team are on a high.

He said: "We are looking forward to every meeting with the way things are going at the moment, so we can't wait for the double header next week.

"We are pretty much guaranteed a play-off place now, but we know it's important to be on form when it comes to the play-offs.

"We want to consolidate our position at the top of the league to make sure we have first pick of opponents and also keep our confidence high.

"We will be looking for two more big wins against King's Lynn and Mildenhall in what will be two tricky meetings.

"They are both strong teams who are capable of causing us problems, so we will need to be on top of our game.

"Hopefully we will be at full strength, and if that's the case we have to be confident we can come away with six more points.

"We are on a great winning run but we can't afford to get complacent, and we'll be hoping for two more good performances at Monmore next Tuesday.

"It's going to be a busy night of action and we are all looking forward to it."

Admission next Tuesday is £14 adults, £10 concessions and children are free. Re-admission tickets from last week’s abandoned match with Mildenhall are valid with a £3 supplement for adults and £2 concessions.
