CHAIRMAN Colin Brookes says it is vital Halesowen Town bounce back as soon as possible following two rare defeats.

The Yeltz lost their first game in 15 matches when going down 2-1 at The Grove against Blyth Spartans last Saturday and followed that up with a 2-0 away defeat at Witton Albion on Tuesday night.

Brookes said: "This team is not used to losing. It is very important we bounce back sooner rather than later.

"I can't fault the effort, work-rate or enthusiasm of the players, but we have struggled to score goals so far this season.

"It was never going to be easy playing at a higher level after promotion but it would be a shame if we undid what has been a very good start for us.

"Saturday's game at home is now even more important because we have a chance to get back to winning ways."

Against Witton, Hales departed Cheshire empty handed against their well-organised opposition.

The Yeltz made two changes to the line-up that lost to Blyth on Saturday, as Peter Till and Aaron Forde were both replaced by Iyseden Christie and Neil Mackenzie.

The visitors got off to a good start as Mackenzie's shot flew just wide and Ben Haseley's goal bound header was acrobatically saved by Chris Sanna.

But the second half was a different affair for Halesowen when Witton came out with all guns blazing. They were rewarded seven minutes in when Josh Hancock marked his return to Albion as he gathered the ball outside the 18 yard box and smashed a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Witton looked more threatening by the minute, as Matt Sargeant made a brilliant diving save to deny Neil Harvey's goal bound effort.

However, Harvey killed the game off with 5 minutes remaining when he latched onto Joe Hull's attempted back pass before powering the ball under Sargeant.

The Yeltz tried to fight back, but the strength and organisation of Albion's back four was too much for the Hales attack.

They will now face Workington at The Grove this Saturday (3pm kick off).

The fixture coincides with this year's Non-League Day and has seen the club organise a host of activities.

The annual event celebrates semi-professional and grassroots football in England. There will be reduced entry for all at just £5 for adults and concessions. Prices remain at a low £3 for under 16s and free for under 12s. To reward the loyalty of those who purchased season tickets, a free drink will be offered at the James Grove Lounge Bar.
