CRADLEY were beaten by the rain as their National League play-off semi-final clash with Mildenhall was abandoned on Tuesday night.

Just seven heats had been completed when deteriorating conditions forced the meeting to be abandoned with the Heathens leading 26-16.

However, the club have moved swiftly to provisionally re-arrange the tie for next Tuesday, September 30 (7.30).

Prices for the clash have been set at £5 for adults and concessions plus free for kids with a readmission ticket from tonight's abandonment, with normal admission prices for those without a valid re-admission ticket.

Cradley had got off to a tremendous start with 5-1s in the opening two races before the rain began to cause problems.

By the time heat seven arrived, riders from both clubs were clearly struggling with the slippery conditions and the meeting was called to a halt.

Heathens boss Will Pottinger admitted they were hugely disappointed having been left with no choice but to abandon the meeting.

However, they are now looking forward to travelling to Coventry for their Knockout Cup semi-final on Friday before hosting the Fen Tigers again next week.

Said Pottinger: "It's just so frustrating for everyone here, and we've just not had any luck with the weather.

"Unfortunately the rain just wasn't going to relent so it was the right decision in the end.

"We'll just have to try again next week, and hopefully the weather will be kinder to us and we can put in a good performance to build up a big lead.

"In the meantime we travel to Coventry on Friday in what should be a good meeting for all the lads, so hopefully we can perform well there as well."
