Halesowen Town 1, King's Lynn 1

HALESOWEN Town's poor home form continued as they somehow rescued a point against King's Lynn at The Grove tonight.

The visitors were guilty of failing to turn their first half dominance into more goals before Chris Lait struck with just three minutes left to earn the Yeltz a share of the spoils.

Though it had looked unlikely, the draw still means manager John Hill's side are yet to win a league game at home this season.

Time and time again Halesowen failed to enjoy any sort of possession as forwards Ben Haseley and Iyseden Christie were left isolated.

It was King's Lynn that started the brighter and could have opened the scoring after just four minutes when David Bridges fired wide after getting in behind the home defence.

Halesowen did have a decent chance of their own when the lively Thompson-Brown, playing out wide, drilled a shot wide from the edge of the box after Lynn failed to clear a Hales corner.

With possession hard to come by, a set-piece looked like it maybe the home-side's best chance of causing problems.

The visitors eventually made their early pressure pay in the 19th minute. George Thompson played a nice ball over the top for Michael Flew to lob over the advancing Matthew Sargeant.

Just four minutes later, Sargeant was called into action to palm away a David Bell drive from distance.

The Yeltz were then let off once more when a Bell corner found its way to Thompson at the far post. His hard and low shot hit the inside of the post and somehow stayed out.

Former Halesowen man Henry Eze then tried a overhead kick as the danger still wasn't cleared, but his effort sailed wide.

The second half proved a more even affair as both sides failed to test the opposition goalkeeper.

Halesowen's best chance of the game fell to Curtis Tilt when he headed a Thompson-Brown corner wide of the post when unmarked in the centre of the Lynn penalty area.

However, with the visitors failing to edge away from their hosts, the Yeltz were always in with a chance of getting something from the contest as the game drew to a close.

That happened in the 87th minute when Tilt fed Lait out wide on the left flank. He cut inside, beat his man and hit a low shot into the bottom corner via a deflection off defender Jackson Ramm.

There was still time for King's Lynn to take the points as the clock reached 90 minutes.

Substitute Stephen Spriggs volleys over with the goal at his mercy.

Halesowen will consider it one point gained after a poor yet hard-working home performance on John Hill's 100th game at The Grove.
