THERE seems to be no stopping the march of Hotshots SC B towards the Stourbridge Snooker League's Premier Division championship.

They ended the unbeaten run of Brandhall Labour with a 4-1 win in a high quality encounter.

Luke Garland, with a break of 47 to thwart a great effort by Jason Hickman on the black, and the trio of left-handers, Callum Downing, with a break of 50 to beat Geoff Williams, Rich Haney, with 38 & 31, and Luke Higginbotham, who beat Bal Sembi, completed the win but Jon Bate, despite a break of 38, was pipped on the black by Alan Hooper, just the second frame in 30 they’ve lost.

Norton Social A took maximum points against Netherton Sports and Social, although they were made to battle hard against determined opponents, and, still unbeaten, they are four points off the lead.

Similarly, last season’s runners-up, West Midland Police, beat Amblecote Institute A 5-0 at home, another scoreline which didn’t reflect the spirit shown by their plucky visitors, while Hotshots SC A have a share of fourth place with the Police after winning 4-1 at Pockets SC A.

Amblecote Institute A beat Moor Pool and Snooker A 4-1 at home thanks to Ashley Sidaway, Mike Richards, against his former team-mates, and Rob Clark and David Oakes, who both did well to win after seeing their opponents make 30 plus breaks.

Hotshots SC C clung on to the First Division lead, and on to their own unbeaten record with the narrowest of wins away to Kinver Constitutional A.

John Mathews, Arshad Rehman, on the final black, and Dawid Konior won for them with Jon Perry and Arnie Troman taking a frame each for the hosts.

Baggeridge Social, in second place, reduced Hotshots’ lead to a point, although they’ve played a game more, with a 4-1 win at home to Stourbridge Institute A.

Kinver Constitutional B returned to form with a 4-1 victory against their C team, the highlight being a black ball win for Rob Jeffries, after his opponent Adam Sprague made a 44 break, and they occupy third place, just two points behind Hotshots.

Kingswinford Cons A produced their best result so far with a hard-fought 3-2 win away to Kingswinford RBL A.

Stourbridge Old Edwardians’ stay at the top of the Second Division lasted only one week as they lost their first game of the season 3-2 away to Amblecote RBL.

Harry Hall and Chris Cowley both won again for them but Gavin Dunn potted the pink to win but went in-off, before losing to Paul Goldrick, and Ed Davies lost on the black to Rob Boylin, after Sam Ball had levelled the match for the Legion, who moved into fifth place, five points off the pace.

Old Eds dropped to a share of second, overtaken by Stourbridge Institute B, who ground out a 5-0 win against Kingswinford RBL B in a lengthy match, and they were joined by Amblecote Institute C, who secured maximum points away to Stourbridge Institute’s D team, with Colin Homer maintaining his unbeaten record.

Wombourne also took maximum points in their encounter with Stourbridge Institute C, although the experienced Paul Tristram was taken to the black by James Tivendale.
