Stourbridge 3, King’s Lynn Town 0

GARY Hackett’s call for greater consistency was heeded with a comfortable three goal victory, writes David Johnson.

The teams started the afternoon level in the table but defender Will Richards put Stourbridge in the driving seat after just seven minutes by heading home Drew Canavan’s corner at the near post off the body of goalkeeper Alex Street.

The Glassboys enjoyed a well earned break as the temperature hovered near freezing by doubling the lead with a splendid goal in first-half injury time. Josh Morgan-Parker played a neat ball in for George Bowerman and he wrong-sided full back Jordan Yong before calmly converting a low shot beyond Street.

Leon Broadhurst almost increased the lead after the interval but his header was tipped over the bar from Morgan-Parker’s dangerous right-wing cross and King’s Lynn goalkeeper Street then kept out Bowerman’s low shot.

Home goalkeeper Dean Coleman wasn’t called into real action until he saved David Bell’s long range effort and then turned Stephen Spriggs’ shot over the bar after an hour.

Good work from lively Morgan-Parker made it a resounding 3-0 after 63 minutes when he took the ball away from a challenge with visiting central defender Henry Eze and neatly lobbed over goalkeeper Street into an empty net.

Memories of two earlier season defeats by King’s Lynn were already forgotten by the time a late dangerous cross from Jake Jones skated across the home penalty area.
