CRADLEY Heathens are all set to get the new season off to flying start.

The Heathens are due to take on the Birmingham Brummies at Perry Barr tonight in the Travel Plus Tours Trophy.

They will then stage their first ‘home’ meeting at the same stadium next Wednesday for the second leg – and teenage star Nathan Greaves can’t wait.

Cradley switched to Birmingham for the 2015 season after losing the use of Wolverhampton last October.

And Greaves, the former British Youth Champion, is delighted to have a new home track to build on his experience of the past two seasons.

After taking his first lap around their new venue at the press and practice day last week he is optimistic about what the new season may hold.

He said: “It was a good day, finally getting some laps under my belt and I felt good in terms of finding different set-ups for Perry Barr.

“It took me quite a while to get to grips with Monmore and I still didn’t quite manage it – as soon as I came close we moved which was frustrating.

“It’s a new challenge now, moving to a new track and it’s going to be interesting for sure. Hopefully I can find a good set-up and find plenty of different lines early in the season.

“It seems a nice track, considering how long it’s been since it was used it’s in good condition and it’s only going to get better.

“It’s nice and wide and fast which I’m hoping will suit me, so fingers crossed I can get some home advantage fairly quickly and have another good season for Cradley.”

Greaves is looking for a third straight National league title in Heathens' colours.

“I’ve been with the club for two seasons and we’ve won the league both years which is amazing,” he said.

“If we could do it a third time it would be a dream come true for me. We’ll be going for it.”

Admission next Wednesday is £11 adults, £8 concessions and £2 children. A full colour 40-page programme will be available for £3.
