WORDSLEY triathlete Rob Kennard has been selected to represent Great Britain in his age group.

The 49-year-old, who is a member of Black Country Triathletes, will go to the European Duathlon Championship in Madrid this Sunday.

He will run 10km, bike 40km and run another 5km during the event after only taking up the sport five years ago as a way of getting fit.

Kennard has also qualified for the World Duathlon Championships to be held in Adelaide, Australia, later this year.

In preparation for his Team GB appearance, he has been training under the guidance of Dr Garry Palmer of Sportstest and is supported by Fred Williams Cycles, Wolverhamton.
