HALESOWEN riders Sam Dighton and Charles Walker raced last week on the Isle of Man Youth Races as a warm up for their club's own promotion, The Halesowen Road Race, due to be held this Sunday.
Dighton finished a creditable 18th overall against some of the best UK junior riders in the three-stage event.
Also riding in the purple colours of Halesowen, Jamieson Blain, 13, put in a great ride in his race finishing a very fine 12th position from sixty other top riders many of whom were older than him.
The Halesowen Road Race will be held over 70 miles on the Astley circuit, near Stourport, starting at 9.30am and finishing in Pearle Lane at around 12.15pm.
The local community have really got behind the race with two anonymous well wishers donating the first and second prizes and local car dealers, Trust UK, will be providing a lead car which will add towards the safety of the riders.
