STOURBRIDGE'S Sam Eggington has been crowned the British Welterweight champion.

'The Savage' handed Glenn Foot his first defeat after their contest in Manchester last night was halted in the ninth round due to a bad cut above Foot's left eye.

It means the 21-year-old has added the British title to his Commonwealth belt.

The clash saw Eggington soon begin to dominate as his superior reach took its toll.

The scorecards confirmed the Stourbridge man's dominance when the fight was halted. Eggington was well ahead with the judges scoring it 80-71, 80-72 and 79-72.
