NEW Stourbridge Rugby Club chairman Robin Edwards has answered members’ concerns surrounding a promised cash injection.

Edwards was elected to the role when beating former chairman Carl Wythes at last month’s AGM at Stourton Park.

At the meeting he also revealed that he had around £100,000 in sponsorship and support lined up.

However, some members have since voiced their concerns to the Stourbridge News about Edwards’ appointment coming on the back of the promised investment.

Many have been left disappointed that the cash injection wouldn’t be immediately forthcoming.

But Edwards moved to allay fears about the situation. “There is no need for our members to have any concerns at all. I never put a time period on when the money would be available,” he said.

“We are currently assessing the club’s financial situation and looking at where the investment would best be spent.

“The money will be put in when it is needed but we have never indicated a time scale on when that will happen.”

Meanwhile, the club’s safeguarding officer, Sarena Shergold, has stepped down following the recent election. Edwards said her role will be covered from within the club for now and no rugby will be hit.
