DUDLEY Sports boss Tony Gore says he is concerned it will be February before his side get back in action.

Sports’ proposed fixture against Pegasus Juniors again fell victim to a waterlogged pitch last Saturday, meaning they have not played a game since their 2-0 away success over Willenhall Town on December 19.

They were due to face local rivals Gornal Athletic at home last night before welcoming Studley in Birmingham Country Floodlit Cup on Thursday. That game has already been postponed four times due to poor playing conditions.

An away trip to Wellington Amateurs will follow this Saturday if the rain holds off.

Gore said: “It is frustrating at the moment but there is nothing we can do about it. Everyone just want to play football.

“Looking at the pitches at the moment I think it could even be February before we get to play again. We have three games organised this week but I’m not holding out much hope with the amount of rain we’ve had.”

Gore did offer one positive to the recent mount of postponements.

“The good news is that it has given some players the chance to come back from injury,” he added.

“A few of the lads that are struggling have been able to have a break and get closer to a return.”

Midfielder Lucas Muchley has overcome an ankle injury and left back Matt Holland is now just three weeks away after breaking his ankle at the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Dudley Town’s home game against Wolverhampton Sporting Community was also postponed due to the bad weather last Saturday.

They will hope to return to action at home to Smethwick Rangers tonight before taking on Black Country Rangers at The Beeches this Saturday.

The Robins currently sit sixth from bottom in the West Midlands Premier but still have designs on a top ten finish this term with the aim of a strong second half of the season.
