DUDLEY Kingswinford are preparing to put their promotion credentials to the test with back-to-back games against the top two sides in Midlands One West.

The Heathbrook outfit continued their push towards the top of the table with a fine 37-12 home success over Whitchurch last Saturday.

That bonus-point victory lifts them into fifth place but just four points off the summit.

They are now preparing for a trip to second-placed Bournville this Saturday before leaders Bridgnorth arrive a week later.

Director of rugby Neil Shillingford thinks his in-form side fear nobody as they continue their rapid progress into the second half of the campaign.

He said: “We are playing really well at the moment and are working hard for each other.

“This group is getting better all the time and have shown they are capable of beating anyone on their day.

“It has got to the stage where we don’t need to worry about what other sides will do, we just need to focus on ourselves and make sure we put in the performances we know we are capable of. If we do that then the points will look after themselves.

“These next two games will be a big test for us but confidence is high. Another pleasing thing is the amount of competition we have in the squad. There are a lot of players knocking on the door and the turnout and intensity in training each week shows that.”

DK powered past Whitchurch to record their fifth successive league success.

"It was very pleasing to get the win," added Shillingford senior. "We had to battle at times but showed how rounded we are. We defended really well which was just as pleasing as seeing us running in the tries."
