STOURBRIDGE had to settle for a share of the points in games against Frickley Athletic and Grantham this week but their Northern Premier promotion push remains firmly on track.

Manager Gary Hackett insists they'll be no let up from his side and said: "We've got 11 games left and 33points still to play for. But in truth, they're all big games left from now on. It's going to be tough and it's important we keep our nerve.

"The games against Frickley and Grantham were ones we could and probably should have won.

"And when you consider what fantastic FA Cup and FA Trophy runs we've had this season, then we've done well to sustain our challenge.

"But the objective is to make sure we're in the play-offs and that's what we're aiming to do."

Stourbridge couldn't convert their chances in the second half against Frickley despite laying siege to the goal at times after falling behind to a first half goal from Luke Hinsley.

Karl Hawley levelled immediately after the break and Frickley's goal went onto live a charmed life at times as the game finished as a 1-1 draw.

Tuesday's trip to Grantham was thrown into confusion when the referee suddenly delayed the kick-off to allow Grantham's goalkeeper Jake Turner to arrive in time following traffic problems on the A1.

Hacklett claimed: "I don't want to sound unsporting, but we got their in plenty of time and prepared only to be told by the referee at 7-30pm that he was delaying the kick-off.

"His decision didn't go down too well. We've had to start games without players in the past and this was a situation which wasn't our fault.

"The pitch is surrounded by an athletic track, so when Grantham wanted the ball back quickly, it was there. When we wanted the ball back, there was no one there.

"That said, they scored two very good goals through Lee Shaw. We hit back through Karl Hawley and Dan Scarr, but I felt we should have nicked it at the end.

"However, it means we've now gone nine games unbeaten, having won seven of those. And although mid-table, both Frickley and Grantham are form teams at the moment."

Stourbridge make the long distance trip to Workington on Saturday and will be taking no chances with an overnight stay.

Hackett confirmed: "We're looking to give ourselves the best opportunity and if it's a choice of making a five hour journey on the day or 45 minutes, then it's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned and that's where some of the FA Cup money really helps."

The Glassboys can select from a position of strength with only Kidderminster Harriers loanee Jas Singh a doubt after picking up a back injury.

Singh's loan deal expires after Saturday and Hackett said: "He's been very unfortunate having not featured a great deal. Because we've had some games postponed, I haven't had to rotate the squad as much as I thought. I need to discuss with Kidderminster about what to do next with him."

Hackett also explained his decision to put both Ben Billingham out on loan with Lye Town, while Drew Canavan has gone to Stourport Swifts.

The Glassboys boss stated: "They are still very much in my plans but they need to get games under their belts. Both of them must have made 700 appearences for the club between them and are Stourbridge through and through. it's just a case of keeping them match fit. Credit to them, because both wanted to go and get games."
