PEDMORE secured a winning draw from their local derby with Belbroughton in Division One of the Worcestershire County League last Saturday.

Belbroughton won the toss and chose to bat with James Wilson hitting 124 and veteran Geoff Day compiling 60 to take them to 284-8 from their 50 overs.

In a rain-affected response, Pedmore’s Paul Pickering plundered 134 and Matthew Herberle made 77 as they finished on 274-6 from 41 overs.

This resulted in Pedmore taking 15 points and Belbroughton eight points from the clash.

Meanwhile, starlet Pete Hawk made 84 as Belbroughton seconds came away with a winning draw after making 204-8.

In reply, Pedmore seconds reached 173-9 from 45 overs as the rain intervened.

Belbroughton thrids started their season in style by hammering Romsley.

Skipper Will More-King led from the front for the Tons smashing 138 not out as the hosts made 267-8.

Romsley’s batting line up were unable to cope with the Belbroughton’s bowling attack as they were skittled for 71, youngster Callum King taking 4-19.

Pedmore will go to Cookley this Saturday (1pm), while Belbroughton welcome Burghill, Tillington and Weobley to Hackman’s Gate (1pm).

Also in Division One, Hagley suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost by six wickets to Stourport-on-Severn.

They will look to bounce back when Worcester visit on Saturday.

Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social fell to a third successive defeat at home to Worcester Nomads. They remain at the bottom but welcome third-from-bottom side Bewdley this Saturday (1pm).

In Division Two, Lye suffered back-to-back defeats with a 238-run loss at Worcester Dominies and Guild. They welcome Alvechurch & Hopwood this Saturday (1pm).

Enville lost against 135 runs against Redditch. Worcester Dominies and Guild visit this Saturday (1pm).
