HALESOWEN golfers Lee Grice, Mike Willetts and Mike Howard were victorious in a Worcestershire County golf tournament held at Fulford Heath Golf Club.
This inaugural County event, which took place on Thursday, May 12, saw 147 golfers representing 24 clubs from within Worcestershire play for two new trophies. The Brenda Smith Cup was for the winner of the individual event and the Dave McDermott Bowl was for the best team of three players.
With an early start at 8am, Lee Grice posted his score of 36 points but no one in any of the following groups right through to a 2.30pm start could match his score so he was able to hold on and win the Brenda Smith Cup.
With solid support from Mike Willetts and Mike Howard in their rounds later in the day their team of three managed to just win the Dave McDermott Bowl by two points from the next best team.
Halesowen Golf Club members are very proud of their team's achievements and will now have to find room in the trophy cabinet for the two new trophies. The team are hoping to be able to enter the competitions again next year to retain them.
