COOMBS Wood secured their first win of the season by beating Chaddesley Corbett in Division Two of the Worcester County League last Saturday.
Mike Langford hit a superb 144 in a total of 271-4, and then the hosts clinched victory by 66 runs in the final over.
Mitchell Jeffery (4-56) was the chief destroyer as Chaddesley were dismissed for 205.
The Wood are showing some signs of clicking into gear as they head for Bredon this Saturday (1pm start).
Meanwhile, the seconds hung on for a moral-boosting draw at Bewdley last Saturday.
Bewdley were dismissed for 233 in their 50 overs, before the Wood pushed them hard in reply.
Posting 202-8 in reply, Wood shut up shop to gain some valuable points. They host fellow strugglers Netherton this weekend in a must-win game (1pm start).
