COOMBS Wood sealed a 26-run win over Worcester Dominies and Guild last Saturday.

The Wood posted 303-8 off their 50 overs, mainly thanks to a magnificent 134 from skipper Carl Whyte.

Whyte then returned figures of 5-31 to help dismiss their visitors for 277.

The Wood are hoping that new signing Zahid Kafiat can boost their promotion bid following his arrival.

They now travel to Alvechurch this weekend (1pm).

Meanwhile, the seconds travelled to high-flying Stourport and produced a superb performance to coast home by seven wickets.

Stourport were dismissed for 194 before The Wood made light work of chasing down their target with six overs to spare. They host Worcester this Saturday (1pm start).

Elsewhere, the thirds fell short at Stone, who posted 244 in their 45 overs. In reply, an under-strength third team never really threatened and lost by 43 runs.

Twelve-year-old Alex Tierney, for whom the club have high hopes, made his debut at senior level.

They will now face Pedmore this Saturday (1pm start).
