WARLEY Boxing Club heavyweight Solomon Dacres has been called up by Team GB.

The 22-year-old, who used to play professional rugby for Moseley, will be assessed by the national coaches from Friday, June 24.

It means he has had to pull out of a fight with Frazer Clarke to turn his attention to his Great Britain coaching opportunity.

His call up follows a recent final defeat in the England Elite National Championships in Liverpool.

Coach John Nash said: “He was obviously disappointed that he won’t be fighting against Clarke but it is an opportunity that he can’t turn down.

“Sparring with some of the best fighters in the country and having time with the coaches will really bring him on.”
