STOURBRIDGE Snooker League starlet Taylor Fish has been crowned under-16 National Champion.

Fish, 15, from Pockets Snooker Club in Kidderminster, defeated Jack Harris of Landywood Snooker Club, Walsall, 6-2 in the English Association of Billiards and Snooker under-16 Final.

The event was held at CueBall Snooker Club, Derby, on Saturday, June 18.

It is a tremendous achievement for the King Charles I High School student who has been given such good support by his club and his coach Kev Franklin. His play has matured markedly over the last two years and he did really well to defeat the highly-talented Jack Harris, one of Taylor’s occasional practice partners.

Meanwhile, Stourbridge beat Redditch in the first leg of the Worcester Inter-League Final at Brandhall Labour.

Stourbridge will take a slender lead of 11 points to Redditch to contest the second leg of the final as they bid to retain the Worcester Inter-League Cup. Each frame in the first leg was well-contested with the highlight being Milan Krstanovic’s break of 50.
