CRADLEY skipper Max Clegg is already casting an eye towards the showpiece Golden Hammer individual event next month.

The club have put together their strongest line-up of the modern era for the meeting at Monmore on Tuesday, August 9, in partnership with Dudley Stroke Association.

Clegg said: “The Golden Hammer is always a massive meeting at Cradley and, with the riders involved, it will be a cracking meeting to be riding in.

“I’ve been in it a few years now and I came close last year finishing second, but I’ve never won it.

“I’d love to go one better and win it this year, especially in front of the home crowd. I know it’s going to be tough but I don’t see why I can’t do it.”

A big crowd is expected for the 20-heat event, with admission priced at £15 for adults and £12 for concessions while kids go free.

Season ticket holders, both adults and concessions, will also be admitted for £5 on production of their pass.

Supporters will also have an opportunity to watch from the restaurant with a two-course meal available for £12. Bookings can be made by emailing info@cradleyheathens.co Meanwhile, Cradley will return to action looking to maintain their perfect home record as they host Buxton at Monmore Green on Monday (7.30pm start).

Will Pottinger’s side have won their last four competitive outings and put in some impressive displays – and number one Morris is keen to see them maintain their dominant home form.

He added: “We had another great win in our last meeting against Mildenhall and we seem to have turned a bit of a corner recently.

“Hopefully we can keep that going against Buxton next time out. They gave us a close meeting in the cup a few weeks ago, but we’ve improved since then so we’ll be looking to do much better this time and get another win.”

The Heathens’ scheduled league clash at Stoke last Saturday fell victim to the wet weather. A new date will now be arranged soon.
