PEDMORE pulled off a pulsating 119 run win over local rivals Belbroughton in Worcester County League Division One.

Dan Jones was in dynamic form with the bat as he blitzed an unbeaten 135 not out.

He found a willing partner in the experienced Danny McDonnell who added 68 as the pair turned the innings around after Pedmore had plummeted to 47 for four at one stage.

They put on 161 for the fifth wicket and took the game away from Belbroughton as Pedmore went onto compile 274 all out.

Belbroughton were soon in trouble when they replied as they struggled against the seam attack of Dan Such and Ben Taylor.

Former Old Hill seamer Such gave nothing away as he claimed four for 10 off eight accurate overs.

Taylor took three for 34 as Belbroughton slumped to 119 for eight before finally being removed for 155 despite the efforts of opening bat Pete Hawk who hit 50.

Pedmore skipper James Burgoyne said: "It's a shame that other results didn't go for us, which means we remain in the bottom two, but we've closed the gap on the teams directly above us.

"It was the best that 'DJ' has batted all season, when at 47 for four, the innings could have gone either way."

Pedmore are now just one point behind Cookley, who they entertain this Saturday.

Hagley followed up their fantastic Worcester County Cup win over Old Hill with a splendid 133 run success over Stourport.

Runs flowed from Joe Lennon 84, James Spavin 85 and Mike Stead 89 as Hagley reached a huge total of 340 for six.

Skipper Neil Hurst then haunted Stourport with his off-spin in reply, snapping up five for 55 while right arm fast bowler James Russell bagged three for 36 as Stourport were prised out for 207.

Neil Hurst confirmed: "The players were full of confidence after beating Old Hill. It was a great all-round performance but we really came good with the bat."

Hagley now travel to Birmingham League side Old Elizabethans in the County Cup semi-final on August 21 where the winners will take on either Worcester CC or Halesowen in the final at New Road.

Oldswinford's woes continue as they were overwhelmed by Division One leaders Worcester Nomads by a massive 237 run margin.

Nomads ran riot with the bat reaching 341 for seven as Rich Henry rattled off 105 not out after Sam Roberts with 86 and Innocent Kaia on 76 had set a solid platform.

Oldswinford were then rolled out for 104 in 34 overs despite a defiant 48 from Jake Brigdale.

The result leaves Oldswinford detached at the bottom of the table, 44 points adrift of safety.

ENVILLE produced an encouraging performance against runaway Division Two leaders Redditch Entaco but eventually lost out by 81 runs.

Redditch reeled off a target of 302 for nine which was built around contributions from skipper Greg Chinn with 81 and Russ Southwick who struck 79.

Enville took up the chase in reply and were going well at one stage thanks to Greg Tomkins who plundered 104 while Spencer Mann supported with 48, the pair putting on 134 for the second wicket.

However Enville were eventually undone by Greg Chinn's bowling as he bagged an excellent six for 20 off eight overs - his spell reducing Enville to 221 all out.

Lye lost out by 53 runs to Worcester Dominies and Guild.

Chris Miles cracked 81 while Luke Roberts added another 53 as Dominies posted a target of 263 for seven.

Lye lost early wickets in reply and were 31 for three at one stage but they recovered to reach 210 all out in 44 overs thanks to efforts from Zeeshan Ahmed who made 54 while Tariq Anwer added 43.
