TWO hugely contrasting displays saw the Glassboys pre-season programme step up a gear this week.

A somewhat below strength Glassboys crashed 4-0 at Southern Premier side Stratford Town last Saturday.

Matters were turned around 48 hours later when the Glassboys eclipsed a strong Shrewsbury Town side 2-0 courtesy of goals from Joe Hull and Chris Lait.

Delighted Glassboys assistant boss Jon Ford claimed: "Shrewsbury had a decent side out which contained a number of players you'd expect to be in their first team, so it was a good test for us.

"Speaking to their manager Micky Mellon afterwards, we both got something out of the game.

"To be honest, I'm not too bothered about the result, but it's always a bit of icing on the cake to claim a big scalp."

Ford confirmed the Glassboys weren't looking to bring anymore players in but added: "You're always open to players if they become available and you think they can improve the side.

"We're happy with what we've got, but there are one or two people we still have to make a decision upon and that will probably happen after Thursday night's game with Tividale."

One of the players under review will be Lewis Probert, who is originally from the Blackheath area and has been recommended to the Glassboys by Cyrille Regis, having previously played in the Ryman League.

The Glassboys are also running the rule over Liam Molesworth, who has previously played in Sweden and Australia.

Molesworth has also had a couple of stints with Bromsgrove Sporting and has trialed with Hednesford Town as well this summer.

Another boost for the Glassboys has been the return of central defender Dan Scarr following surgery. Ford confirmed: "He played 35 minutes against Stratford and the full game against Shrewsbury with no ill effects."

Stourbridge travel to Evesham United this Saturday and then visit Alvechurch on Monday.

THE Glassboys will also be staging their kit launch next Thursday, August 4 at the ground from 7-30pm when all supporters are welcome to attend.

Season tickets and membership will also be available and they'll be the chance to purchase the new kit on the night.

First choice shirts will continue with the traditional red and white strips but the second kit will now comprise of white shirts with red trim and black shorts,
