HIMLEY are all set to host their popular Black Country Floodlit T20 competition.

This year sees the regions most prestigious week-long, day/night cricket event will be held with a new format.

It will be held over six days from Sunday, August 21 to Friday, August 26. This year's contest will start on a Sunday where Staffordshire's finest club under-19s go head-to-head in Natwest T20 semi-final play-offs, with the final played under the lights in the evening.

The winner will go on to represent Staffordshire in the National Finals.

The event now includes six local teams. Himley, Stourbridge, Wolverhampton, Halesowen, Brewood & an all-star Staffordshire Cricket League XI will all compete for the Joe Brandrick President's trophy.

The event now in its seventh year and will include all the usual action you would see on TV, including floodlights, coloured clothing, music, fireworks and on-field entertainment.

A beer festival featuring ales from the likes of Marstons, Enville and Bathams will also run alongside this year's competition.

Himley's Greg Wright said: "We have extended the competition once again this year. It is always very popular and we want to keep building on that.

"There are a lot of new things going on this year as well. Hopefully the beer festival and the under-19 contest will all add to what we already do."
