CRADLEY Town are hoping to kick start their season after co-manager Andy Wyton admitted the players have been "awful."

The club lie 16th in the West Midlands (Regional) League with two wins and one draw from six games.

The club went down to Smethwick away 2-1 on Saturday but won 2-1 at Willenhall Town last night (Wednesday).

Joint manager Andy Wyton said: "We have had an awful start to the season, the players have been awful and just have not seemed to have fancied it.

"We missed six one on ones against Black Country Rovers and six one on ones against Stone, so we are making the chances but our finishing has been woeful and we cannot string two passes together."

He added: "I think the reason we have had a poor start was because we did not have a pre-season with our players, they all seemed to be on their holidays so now is our pre-season so we should improve."

The Hammers have some respite this weekend when they face Uttoxeter Town in the FA Vase at The Beeches on Saturday at 3pm.

Wyton believes the FA Vase fixture could be a new start for the squadron added: "We will be playing our strongest side in the FA Vase on Saturday because it is now an important game after the start we have had.

"It is important to do the very best we can do in the competition and we have a full squad except for Lewis Clarke, who has a slight injury."
