PEDMORE skipper James Burgoyne praised the efforts of groundsman Paul Spicer and his helpers for getting their Worcester County League Division One game on with Droitwich.

Relegation threatened Pedmore were desperate to get the game played, especially with the rest of Division One being washed out.

Pedmore were able to prise out an extra eight points as a result thanks to a winning draw.

Burgoyne claimed: "Paul made sure the entire square was covered. Once the rain stopped and we took off the covers, the square was a dry as a bone underneath and we had no problem playing."

Pedmore took full advantage and plundered an impressive 244 for six off a reduced 27 overs.

Wasim Ashiq led the charge with 62 and there was plenty of support from Paul Taylor 46, Ryan Beaumont 40, Dave Skelding 39 and Dan Such 25.

Droitwich were restricted to 188 for two in reply despite the efforts of Jordan Renau who reeled off 94 not out.

Burgoyne added: "We were pretty pleased with ourselves at half way. Droitwich seemed to set their stall out just to get bonus points in reply, If they'd put their foot down a bit earlier, it could have been a different story."

Pedmore now need to get 13 points from their trip to Stourport on Saturday to be safe with Burgoyne adding: "The extra points mean the situation is back in our own hands!

It leaves Pedmore 13 points clear of Belbroughton going into the final round of matches while bottom side Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social remain another 10 points adrift with the likelihood of two sides going down.

Belbroughton were left helpless as their game with Oldswinford was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

It means Belbroughton must win at Droitwich on Saturday and hope Pedmore slip up.

Oldswinford's prospects of survival look slim as they round off the season at Cookley.

Hagley hold onto third place after their clash with champions Worcester Nomads also fell victim to the weather.

Hagley now visit Bewdley to complete their campaign.

Enville are now in real danger of dropping down from Division Two.

They restricted rivals Bredon to 152 for eight off 22 overs but then just fell short in reply on 146 for six.

That was after off-spinner Katie Parfitt picked up figures of five for 54 off eight overs.

Greg Tomkins then hit 59 in reply but it wasn't enough and skipper Matt Branch admitted: "We needed a six off the last ball to tie but the real damage was done in the penultimate over when Bredon picked up three wickets."

Enville now sit next to bottom, eight points behind Bredon and Wormelow.

To make matters worse, they must visit second placed Feckenham on Saturday who themselves need five points to clinch promotion.

That was after Feckenham hammered Lye by 190 runs.

Feckenham posted a huge 249 for nine declared and then skittled out Lye for just 59 runs.
