GLASSBOYS boss Gary Hackett wants his side to show their promotion intent when they go to second-placed Blyth Spartans.

Stourbridge travel to the North East this Saturday looking to get their push towards the head of the Northern Premier League firmly back on track.

A 1-1 draw at 19th-placed Coalville Town on Tuesday night made it three league outings without a win for Hackett's men.

The manager said: "Our aim now is to go to Blyth and show that we want to be up there fighting for promotion.

"Our school report so far would say it has been a steady start but that there is room for improvement.

"Blyth is not an easy place to go but we have shown before that we are more than capable of doing that."

Luke Benbow hit Stourbridge's equaliser in the 66th minute as Stour had to settle for a point against Coalville.

Hackett added: "It felt like two points dropped because again we have dominated the game and had the chances to win it.

"Instead we have given away another cheap goal and handed them something to hang on to.

"That is something we have to cut out. We have to tighten up because it is holding us back at the moment."

Stourbridge have been drawn away against National League South side Whitehawk in the first round of the FA Cup.

The Glassboys progressed to the first round with last Saturday's 3-1 win against ten-men Nantwich Town.

A brace from Leon Broadhurst and a Benbow strike made sure Stour were in the draw.

The tie against Whitehawk is set to be held over the weekend of Saturday, November 5.

Hackett said: "The performance against Nantwich was probably our best 90 minutes of the season so far. We have turned up when it really mattered.

"The draw is very similar to when we played Dover at this stage last season. You're initially underwhelmed but then once you get your head around it you see it as an opportunity to progress.

"I'm really looking forward to it now."

Meanwhile, striker Justin Richards is facing a long spell on the sidelines after suffering serious knee injuries in the FA Cup victory over Nantwich last Saturday.

Richards ruptured his patella tendons on both knees when he landed awkwardly during stoppage time. A 45-minute operation to repair the damage was carried out in Crewe but the forward is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Hackett said he is now looking to bring a new forward to the club to fill the gap.

Defender Joe Hull has left Stourbridge to join league rivals Rushall Olympic.

Hull links up with the Pics following a loan stint at Tividale in recent weeks.

The central defender joined the Glassboys in February 2016 from Halesowen Town and made 21 appearances for the club.

His last appearance came as a substitute in Stour's away match at Stafford Rangers at the end of September. Since then he had made three appearances on dual registration for Tividale.
