ENGLAND rugby international Heather Fisher called at Old Halesonians to help junior players prepare for a big match.

The Olympic and world cup star shared her skills with the club's under 16 squad and also found time to visit the girls teams to pass on some helpful tips.

John Wragg, U16’s head coach, said: “With an important cup match at the weekend the boys are extremely fortunate to be able to benefit from Heather's coaching skills.”

The U16s faced a tough challenge on Sunday against a Birmingham Solihull side which included five U16 international players and, despite Heather's encouragement, Old Hales lost 58-7.

Both the U13s and U15s girls team were also in action last weekend against a combined side from Camp Hill and Walsall.

Showing great improvements the U13s girls stormed to a 17-2 victory, while the U15s had a tight game which they ultimately won 8-5.

Coach Claire Humphries said: “They all worked as a team, they rucked over and got the ball. I’m so proud of them all.”
