STOURBRIDGE manager Gary Hackett insists there is still time for any member of his squad to play their way into FA Cup folklore by impressing at Ashton United on Saturday (3pm).

The Glassboys gaffer was left "absolutely gutted" by the 11th-hour postponement of Sunday's second-round clash with League One Northampton Town which has since been rescheduled for Tuesday evening (7.45).

Despite the call-off happening less than two hours before kick-off, Hackett revealed he had not named his team to face the Cobblers and that air of mystery could aid his preparations for this weekend's journey to Greater Manchester.

The disappointment was doubled for many on Monday when they discovered the winner of Stour's tie would face League Two Wycombe Wanderers, missing out on the lure of a Premier League giant but Hackett was in no mood to look too far ahead.

"At the moment, I am not thinking about Wycombe," he said.

"We can only mention them if we can cause a major shock against Northampton but it was a bit of a strange draw for me because we hadn't played.

"Thinking about the third round somehow didn't seem right. That is still the way I feel, we have a massive game on Tuesday and lets hope we can cause a major upset."

Stour toppled National South outfit Whitehawk under the Amblecote lights in the last round and Hackett hopes for another cup cracker a week after Tuesday's action-packed 3-3 draw at Sutton Coldfield Town in the League Cup, which Stour won 4-2 on penalties.

Asked whether the midweek date would make a difference, Hackett replied: "I don't think there is any great advantage or disadvantage.

"Perhaps the atmosphere will be a bit better for a night match, it tends to be but we will look forward to it once we have played Ashton. That is the most important thing.

"It is hard to keep your focus on the next match but we are going to have to. The league is our bread and butter and we will be taking a strong side up to Ashton.

"Certain players put in strong performances on Tuesday, it gave some good pitch time to quite a few players and the main thing was for them to get 90 minutes under their belts.

"For the neutral, it must have been a very exciting game. The (Northampton) team is not picked yet so we will see what happens on Saturday."
