BOSS Gary Hackett spoke of his pride in his Glassboys after their historic FA Cup run came to an end at Wycombe Wanderers.

Stour lost 2-1 at Adams Park when Adebayo Akinfenwa netted in the 83rd minute.

The visitors had fought back to level through Dan Scarr after sub Sam Wood had handed Wanderers the lead early in the second half.

Hackett said: "I'm extremely disappointed but disappointed for the right reasons.

"I'm so proud of the performance, the atmosphere, the day, the fans and it's just a real disappointment because I think we definitely deserved a replay and it didn't quite happen for us.

"It is very fine margins between success and failure. At 1-1 we have hit the underside of the bar and a couple of minutes later Akinfenwa, for the first time in the game, has pulled off and scored a goal."

The manager wasn't surprised to see his underdogs give their League One opponents a full blooded cup encounter.

"It didn't surprise me. I know we have some talented footballers and on the day we were slightly the more polished side. But good luck to Wycombe they have conducted themselves in the right way and been very sporting.

"Financially this will put the club in a strong position. I think people will remember this day for a long time, even in defeat," he added.
