OLDBURY'S Jodie Stimpson came 16th in the latest round of the World Triathlon Series at Australia's Gold Coast.
Stimpson had been looking to hit back after a narrow defeat in the opening round in Abu Dhabi but couldn't live with the pace of the run after solid swim and bike legs had left her well in contention heading into the final transition.
However, once again the 28-year-old reigning Commonwealth champion had to watch as New Zealander Andrea Hewitt again come out on top to make it successive series victories this season.
Stimpson was the only Briton competing at the venue that will also be used for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
She could potentially have taken a big step towards England selection for next year's games if she had bagged a top-five finish.
However, she will again have to bounce back to her best at coming World Triathlon Series events at Yokohama, Japan, on May 13-14 and her home event in Leeds in June.
