NEIL Shillingford says Dudley Kingswinford were let down by their attacking intent in the second half against Stratford-upon-Avon.

DK let a 26-14 half time lead slip as they lost 36-29 at the end of the ten-try thriller last Saturday.

Shillingford thinks it was a game they would have won if only they'd have managed the situation better during the second period.

He said: "We didn't manage it well in the second half.

"We set our stall out to play some risky attacking rugby and to get the bonus point and it worked for us.

"The problem was that we carried on in the same vain after the break when we could have just managed the game better instead. Once we'd achieved our goal then there was no need for us to play with such risk.

"Another factor was that Stratford started to compete more at the break down and that brought the referee into the game in the second half. Some poor decisions went against us that led to tries.

"The game highlighted a few weaknesses but the lads came off disappointed at the end because we could and should have won it. The positive is that we took two bonus points and can still finish fourth if we end the season well."

DK don't have a game this weekend but will end the season when Sutton Coldfield visit Heathbrook on April 22.

Shillingford's men have dropped to sixth after the defeat but are only a point behind fourth-placed Stratford with the final week of the season to come.
