National League Division 2 North:

Stourbridge 24, Tynedale 52

THE season cannot end quickly enough as Stour signed off their final home fixture in embarrassing fashion.

Sun-kissed weather made conditions ideal for running rugby and Tynedale made the most of it, running in no less than eight tries, while exposing Stour's fragile defensive qualities at the same time.

The warning was there from the start as Tynedale threw the ball around straight from the kick-off which finally resulted with scrum half Matt Outson scampering over on the blindside to score with less than two minutes gone on the clock.

Inside centre Ashley Smith then slotted over a touchline conversion to put Tynedale 7-0 in front, a position from which they were never headed.

Stour  struck back when scrum half Ben Tibbetts chased a clever kick ahead to go overi n the corner, but Tynedale started to tighten their grip on the game at the end of the first quarter, outside centre Jack Harrison capitalising on some basic Stour errors, before full back James Spencer went over for a third try on the half hour when snapping up some errant line out ball to score.

Smith slotted over another conversion to put Tynedale 19-5 in front before Stour managed to cut some of the leeway by half time when inside centre James Otutaha forced his way over and  fly half Luke White converted.

Leading 19-12 at the break, Tynedale soon stretched the advantage,  fly half Dan Taylor sending Harrison clear on the overlap to score his second try which Smith improved upon.

Stour responded when flanker NigelMukarati charged over for his side's third try following a break by Otutaha on 51 minutes which replacement fly half Chris Scott converted.

At this stage, Stour still had a glimmer of hope that they could retrieve the game, but Tynedale then put clear daylight between the sides.

Replacement lock Louis Frankland was driven over from a line out on 57 minutes before Spencer created another overlap to send winger Aedan Moloney racing over for his side's sixth try.

Smith converted both taking the score to 40-19 which effectively put the outcome way beyond Stour.

Battling No.8 Ciaran Moore did manage to claim a bonus point try with five minutes remaining after breaking from the base of a scrum to power his way over.

But there was still time for Tynedale to turn the screw further as they twice carved through Stour's flagging ranks.

Another replacement , Jack Outson , crossed after gathering an interception before Smith hammered in the final nail, scoring with the last move of the match, both scores being met with stunned silence from the Stourton Park faithful.
